In 2016, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the 100-seat Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College at Rohini, making it the only state-run medical college to come up in the city in 6 decades.  

World Class Skill Centres

The ‘World Class Skill Centre (WCSC)’ in Delhi aims at upskilling and reskilling students, to gain rightful employment and cater to the demands of the market. 

The 1st WCSC had been built in 2013. Since then, the AAP govt has built 7 more WCSCs.

The 8th Skill centre was inaugurated in Feb 2021.

Delhi Technological University – new campus

Delhi Technological University (DTU) opened a new campus in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi named “University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME)” in 2017. It was inaugurated by CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University – East Delhi campus

The GGSIPU East Campus became operational in the 2021-2022 academic session. There is an intake of 600 students. 

It is the first Net Zero Energy design construction.

“GGSIPU’s newly constructed east campus with India’s first Net Zero Energy design has multiple academic blocks, Central Library and Computer Center with Chilled Beam Air Conditioning System, world-class lecture theatres, an administrative block, hostels for boys, girls and teachers, residences for faculty members, multilevel car parking and a huge block for sports, playground and cultural activities”, the University said (Link)

“The university has created two flagship schools in this campus, viz., University School of Automation & Robotics (USAR) and University School of Design & Innovation (USDI). This academic session will offer five new bachelor degree programmes in these schools at the east Delhi campus at Surajmal Vihar”, said the University (Link)

The East Delhi campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is set to house two new schools of studies, namely, University School of Automation & Robotics (USAR) and University School of Design & Innovation, (USDI).

Ambedkar University – new campuses at Dheerpur and Rohini – planned

In Aug 2019, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Education Minister Manish Sisodia laid the foundation stone for the 2 Ambedkar University campuses at Dheerpur and Rohini. 

Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) will be commencing the development and construction of its two new campuses at Dheerpur and Rohini. Environmentally sustainable and meeting GRIHA 5 standards, both State of Art campuses will ensure best standards in energy, water and waste management.  

Dheerpur campus is envisaged to house 4500 full-time students and about 2000 students in part time/short term programmes in its first phase. In addition, it will have hostel facilities for 750 students as well as 256 units of faculty and staff housing. Other facilities will include auditorium, convention centre, exhibition centre, seminar and conference facilities, library, cafeterias, students centre, indoors and outdoors sports facilities, guesthouse, health centre, display and performance areas, convenience/utility centre and crèche.

The Dheerpur campus will house seven schools in Phase 1, namely Schools of Undergraduate Studies, Liberal Studies, Development Studies, Human Ecology, Design, Culture & Creative Expressions and Vocational Studies. In addition, it will also have Centres for Research Methods, Community Knowledge, Incubation & Innovation, Future Studies and South Asia Studies.

The Rohini Campus will have a capacity of 3500 full-time students with hostel facilities for 900 students. It will also have staff and faculty housing with 132 units. 

The campus will have auditorium, convention centre, seminar and conference facilities, library, cafeterias, students centre, indoors and outdoors sports facilities, guesthouse, health centre, display and performance areas, convenience/utility centre and crèche.

Netaji Subhash Technological University – new building blocks

In Nov 2021, the AAP Delhi Government approved the construction of six new building blocks in Netaji Subhash Technological University (NSUT) at a total cost Rs 230.61 crore.
