Delhi Government led by Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, had initiated the Delhi@2047 platform with the objective of partnering with private sector entities, particularly philanthropic organisations, to work towards a shared goal of shaping the national capital’s future in 2047. Over 75 CSR and foundations collaborated to aid Delhi’s battle against COVID-19. Likewise, we can further the Chief Minister’s vision of creating a fair, advanced, and eco-friendly capital by tackling complicated issues and developmental hurdles.

Smt Reena Gupta represented the Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDCD) at the conference ‘10th CII Regional Conference on CSR: Setting Goals Beyond Compliance’ on Tuesday, 28 March 2023 at India Habitat Center organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Smt Reena Gupta said that the policies implemented by the Delhi Government in the past few years, such as improving government schools, offering primary healthcare at local clinics, providing affordable electricity, and home delivery of government services have gained global recognition. “Despite this, there are still several areas where private and philanthropic sectors can lend their expertise and cooperation, such as road infrastructure, drinking water, transportation, environmental preservation, sports, waste management, tackling air and water pollution, etc,” she said.

She stressed that it is the collective responsibility of the government and the private sector to transform Delhi into a city where the underprivileged can lead a comfortable, dignified, and hassle-free life. “To achieve this, the private sector, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and charitable organisations must collaborate with the government to reinforce the structural impact of their efforts, rather than just engaging in superficial gestures,” she said.

The Delhi government’s efforts to involve various stakeholders in its development initiatives that prioritise people were praised by CII.
