Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak on Monday said that the garbage is piled up across North MCD areas as BJP is utilising the Rs 938 crores of the Kejriwal government in the name of councillor fund instead of paying sanitation workers. He said that BJP is outrageously disbursing Rs 938 crores released by the Kejriwal government in the name of councillor fund and not as the salary of MCD employees. He said that the BJP knows that in the upcoming poll citizens of Delhi will throw them out of MCD, therefore, they have planned to completely bankrupt MCD. He said that the BJP must not play with the health of the citizens and lives of sanitation workers but immediately release the pending salaries of MCD employees. Shri Pathak said that the BJP has no intention to pay salaries of the sanitation workers and others; Delhi is suffering from massive garbage issue and situation of areas under north MCD are the worst. He said that the AAP condemns the plan of the BJP to distribute the Rs 938 crores paid by the Kejriwal Government to the councillors.

Shri Pathak said, “Entire Delhi is suffering from a massive garbage issue. But the areas under the BJP ruled North MCD are in the worst kind of situation for the last 15-20 days. If you go to any area under the jurisdiction of the BJP ruled North MCD you will see that the piled up garbage is scattered everywhere. The reason behind this situation is that the sanitation workers of the BJP ruled MCD are on strike for the last several days because the MCD has not paid their salary for the last 5–6 months.”

He said, “The situation of the sanitation workers is very serious. These people are starving, they do not have money to pay the school fees of their children and they also do not have money to pay the rents of their houses. The adamant nature of the BJP ruled MCD has forced these poor people to go on strike. It is unfortunate that the BJP which is ruling the MCD for the last 15 years have no sympathy for these people. The BJP has transformed MCD to a den of corruption. The BJP leaders are only interested in increasing the funds of the councillors but they have no intention to pay the salaries of their employees.”

He said, “On January 14 Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Manish Sisodia and PWD Minister Shri Satyender Jain announced that the Kejriwal Government will release Rs 938 crores for the salaries of MCD employees. But the BJP has not paid the salaries of their employees instead they have increased the councillor fund. The BJP has decided to provide Rs.1.5 crores to every councillor and I am not understanding what the BJP wants.”

Shri Pathak said, “Today the situation of Delhi is so bad because the BJP has already made the plan to utilise Rs.938 crores released by the Kejriwal government as councillor funds and not as the salaries of their employees. The BJP knows that this is their last year in the power of MCD and in the upcoming election the citizens of Delhi will throw them out of power from the MCD. The BJP is trying to loot the MCD from every aspect in this last year.”

He said, “I want to appeal the BJP not to do politics with the health of the citizens of Delhi. I want to appeal the BJP not to do politics with the lives of these poor sanitation workers. The Aam Aadmi Party demands that the BJP should immediately release the salaries of the sanitation workers and other MCD employees. The Aam Aadmi Party condemns the plan of the BJP to distribute the Rs 938 crores paid by the Kejriwal Government to the councillors and not as the salaries of their employees.”
