Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leader and MLA Ms Atishi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to silence and intimidate AAP leaders through tactics such as false cases, raids, and arrests. At a press conference today, Ms Atishi stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was expected to bring down Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Shri Manish Sisodia, on false charges.

Ms Atishi dismissed the allegations made by the CBI and the Central Government that Manish Sisodia had engineered a scam of Rs 10,000 crore. She challenged the BJP to prove any allegation of corruption of even one paisa against any leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, saying, “You will not be able to do this because we are a staunchly honest party.”

Addressing the BJP further, she said, “Your fear and dread are very visible to everyone today. Today the whole country is seeing that you are afraid of the increasing popularity of Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party in the country.”

Ms Atishi added that false cases would continue to be filed against the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party every day, as the popularity of the party continues to rise. In the last 8 years, around 200 cases have been filed against various Aam Aadmi Party leaders.

She warned the BJP to read the history of the world, saying, “The history of the whole world shows that whenever an attempt has been made to suppress those who work for the truth and the public, the truth and the person fighting for the people become stronger.”

Ms Atishi asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party would continue to strive towards a better future for the country and its children, saying, “If you put one innocent person in jail, ten will stand up against you. If you put ten in jail, thousands of people will stand up. If you put thousands of people in jail, lakhs of people will stand up against you.”

She concluded her statement by saying, “But we will continue to strive towards a better future for this country and its children.”
