No scope for laxity or negligence in Chief Minister Kejriwal’s dream project

Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Somnath Bharti first visited the Bhalswa Lake that has been developed by the Delhi Jal Board. The DJB Vice Chairman was highly impressed with the development of the lake and praised its beauty. After inspecting the lake, Somnath Bharti also inspected the golf course and also the spot where installing tubewells by Delhi Jal Board has been proposed. DDA has given its in-principle approval to this project. DJB Vice Chairman said that this project is aligned to the dream project of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal – 24X7 water supply project – and this is very important to improve water supply in Delhi. All necessary steps should be taken to start all works related to the project. Somnath Bharti directed the officials to work on CM Kejriwal’s dream project of 24×7 water supply on a war footing and that no laxity or negligence should be allowed in any work related to this project.

The Bhalswa Lake tubewells project

Delhi Jal Board has been speeding up the works to increase the production of water in the national capital. To increase the production of water, new water sources are being developed. Lakes are being constructed in Delhi under the vision of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to make Delhi a ‘City of Lakes’ and ensure 24-hour water supply. Bhalswa Lake has been developed afresh under this vision. The development of this lake has resulted in a substantial rise in the water table of the surrounding area. The Delhi Jal Board has proposed a project under which it will install 62 tubewells in the Bhalswa Lake Complex and the nearby golf course to harness ground water. Somnath Bharti, Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board said that 8 MGD additional water is expected to be available to Delhi from this tubewells project. The availability of additional water will reduce the demand-supply gap and will also improve water supply in many areas. In days to come, Delhi Jal Board will expedite works related with the development of new water sources in the national capital.
