CM announces Rs five lakh compensation for families of Zakir Nagar fire victims
· Mr Arvind Kejriwal inspects the site of fire incident and meets the injured in hospital
· CM says Rs five lakh each to the families of deceased and Rs two lakh each to the injured
· Exact cause of fire will be ascertained and responsibility will be fixed if lapses are found
Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced a compensation of Rs five lakh each for the families of six persons who lost their lives due to fire in a building at Zakir Nagar, and Rs two lakh each to those injured in the fire.
The announcement was made by the Chief Minister after he inspected the incident site along with Delhi Waqf Board chairman and MLA, Amanatullah Khan.
The Chief Minister also went to the Holy Family Hospital to meet the persons injured in the fire.
“A very bad incident of fire took place last night, in which six persons lost their lives and 11 have been injured, who are currently admitted in the Holy Family Hospital. The Fire Department managed to bring the fire under control, but lives of six persons could not be saved,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr Kejriwal stated :“Delhi government will provide a compensation of Rs five lakh each to the families of those who have lost their lives and Rs two lakh each to the injured. The government will also ascertain the exact cause of the fire and all efforts will be made that there is no repeat of such incidents.”
The Chief Minister said he has been told prima facie the cause of fire appears to be short circuit, but it will be probed and strict action will be taken if any negligence or lapse is found. Responsibility will also be fixed.

जाकिर नगर में एक बिल्डिंग में आग लगने की वजह से 6 लोगों की जान चली गई और 11 लोग जख्मी हो गये। दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री श्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने घटनास्थल का दौरा किया और जख्मी लोगों को देखने के लिए होली फैमिली अस्पताल भी गये। इस घटना पर मीडिया से बातचीत करते हुए श्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने कहा,
कल रात को बहुत बुरा हादसा हुआ। बहुत बुरी आग लगी है। जिसमें 6 लोगों की मौत हो गई है और 11 लोग जख्मी हैं। ये सभी होली फैमिली हॉस्पिटल में एडमिट हैं। फायर डिपार्टमेंट के लोगों ने मेहनत करके आग बुझा दी है। लेकिन कई लोगों की जान नहीं बच पाई है। ये बहुत बुरा हादसा है। जिन लोगों की मौत हुई है उनके परिवारों को दिल्ली सरकार की तरफ से हम लोग 5-5 लाख रुपये का मुआवजा देंगे और जो लोग घायल हैं उनको 2-2 लाख रुपये का मुआवजा दिया जाएगा। हम इस हादसे की जांच कराएंगे कि ये किन कारणों से हुआ। जो भी कारण हों, कोशिश करेंगे कि आगे से ऐसा कोई हादसा न हो। अभी बताया जा रहा है कि ये शॉर्ट सर्किट की वजह से हुआ है। अगर कोई लापरवाही हुई है तो उसकी जांच कराएंगे और जिम्मेदारी तय करेंगे।
