CHIEF MINISTER OF DELHI, SHRI ARVIND KEJRIWAL LAUNCHES FIRST EVER BIKE AMBULANCE SERVICE ( FIRST RESPONDER VEHICLES) IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal today launched and flagged off the First Ever Bike Ambulance Service (First Responder Vehicles) in a function organised by Delhi Government at Delhi Secretariat.

Minister of Health, Shri Satyendar Jain, Senior Officers of the Govt. and Officers of CATS Ambulances services were also present on this occasion.  To reduce the ambulance Response Time in congested areas and J.J. clusters, Government of Delhi has initiated a Pilot Project through CATS for First Responder Vehicles (FRVs) with a fleet of 16 nos of FRVs (Bike Ambulances)  in East Delhi (East, North East & Shahdara District).

The project was approved by the Council of Ministers vide Cabinet Decision No. 2554 dated 23.02.2018 and funds of Rs.40.00 Lakhs has been sanctioned.

Launching the fleet of Bike Ambulances, Shri Kejriwal said that the Delhi Government is constantly, continuously and vigorously working in the field of health and medical services to keep his promise to provide better health facility to Delhi.

“Today we have taken a big step for the people of Delhi. Till now only big vehicles were available for ambulance services, now these bike ambulances will be able to reach narrow bylanes to provide immediate medical care for people residing there.” The Chief Minister said on the occasion.

Mr Kejriwal said the new service is being launched with 16 motorcycles and will soon be expanded.

He said that his government is focusing on health and education sectors with the result the new policies, programmes/initiatives are created and implemented effectively.

Centralised Accident & Trauma Services (CATS), an Autonomous Body of Govt. of NCT of Delhi provides round the clock free ambulance service in Delhi for accident & trauma victims, medical emergencies, transportation of pregnant women for delivery and post delivery (drop back to home), inter-hospital transportation etc. CATS ambulances are equipped and manned by trained ambulance manpower to deal with all kind of medical emergencies including on board deliveries.

For this purpose, CATS purchased 16 No. of Hero Achiever Motorcycles which are fabricated and equipped with medical equipment. For operational purpose, these FRVs are also equipped with Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) for communication, GPS devices for tracking and route navigation and integrated with existing CATS Control Room. These FRVs are manned by trained ambulance manpower. Against the sanctioned funds of Rs.40.00 Lakhs, the project is completed in Rs.23.00 Lakhs

The role of First Responder Vehicles:

  • Provide service in traffic congested areas and JJ clusters having narrow streets
  • To reach the incident site in shortest possible time
  • Help in preventing the loss of limb(s) or life by providing basic first aid
  • Stabilize the patient till arrival of ambulance

  • Portable oxygen cylinder
  • First aid kit and dressing materials
  • Air-splints
  • Foldable Transfer Sheet
  • Ambu Bags
  • Glucometer
  • Pulse Oxymeter
  • Portable manual suction machine
  • GPS device
  • Communication Device (MDT)
