The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday exposed how BJP MLA Abhay Verma was caught assaulting a Safai Karamchari in a fit of rage after BJP’s defeat in MCD. Lashing out at the saffron party, AAP MLA Shri Kuldeep Kumar said, “it is clear that BJP is an anti-Dalit party. BJP is rattled with its defeat in MCD and is venting out its anger on the sanitation workers of the underprivileged sections of society. It is clearly visible in the video that Abhay Verma is slapping the worker, abusing his mother.” At the same time, Delhi Dy Speaker and AAP MLA Smt Rakhi Birla said, “This attack was not only on one worker but on all of Delhi and the entire Valmiki Samaj of the state. The Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns this incident and will write a letter to the commissioner against it demanding the safety of all Safai Karamcharis. AAP will file an FIR today and hold a protest tomorrow against BJP’s harassment of the Karamchari.”
MLA Shri Kuldeep Kumar said, “Everyone knows that it was the BJP that was in power at the MCD for the last 15 years. This BJP-led government over the last 15 years caused lots of problems to the citizens of Delhi and the employees of the MCD, and therefore in the recently concluded MCD elections, they were thrown out of the MCD and the citizens of Delhi voted for an honest AAP-led government at the MCD. The people of Delhi gave such a massive mandate to the Aam Aadmi Party. But it is unfortunate that the BJP, which still has not recovered from the shock of the MCD loss, is now taking its revenge against the safai karamcharis. Most of these safai karamcharis are people who come from marginalised communities and are not very well off. The BJP did not pay their salaries on time during its 15-year tenure and did not clear their arrears. Now the BJP has reached a point where it is attacking these safai karamcharis in Delhi.”
He said, “Today we have a video of an incident that took place in Lakshmi Nagar. In this video that, a BJP leader, Abhay Verma, who is the MLA from Lakshmi Nagar, can be seen beating up a safai karamchari along with his men and also abusing him very badly. He has used words which we cannot tell the media present over here. That’s how vulgar his language is in this video. Also, in the video you can see how ruthlessly Abhay Verma beats up a safai karamchari. This is the true face of this MLA and of the BJP.”
He added, “Let me also tell you the story behind this video. The local people present here told us that Abhay Verma asked this safai karamchari for the keys of a room that is beside a public toilet. The person in question did not have the keys and therefore he was beaten up. The people also told us that the key of the room is still with the former BJP councillor who lost the election in the recent MCD polls. But even if this person had the key to this room, can a person beat someone up like this? How can an elected legislator behave like this with the public? This is extremely shameful and highlights the attitude of the BJP. This is exactly the reason why the people of Delhi voted the BJP out of power in the MCD. These people had become very arrogant and did not work for the people.”
He concluded, “The Aam Aadmi Party condemns this behaviour of the BJP leader. Just because their party has lost the election, they cannot go around beating up people like this. That too a person belonging to a Valmiki community. Just because their community has been facing harassment for centuries, a BJP leader cannot behave like this with them. We once again condemn this behaviour of Abhay Verma and the BJP and we will not let them behave like goons with the safai karamcharis of Delhi.”
Vidhan Sabha Dy Speaker and MLA Smt Rakhi Birla said, “In the video, very shocking language has been used by the BJP MLA against the safai karamchari and his family. We have been saying for several years now that the BJP is a party of goons and hooligans. The bigger the goon you are, the bigger the responsibility that BJP gives you. This video from Lakshmi Nagar only highlights this fact. The MLA from the area Abhay Verma still has not overcome the loss that his party has faced in the MCD elections. In the video he has shown his attitude towards members of the Dalit community. A legislator of a political party shows the mentality of the political party. The BJP has for a long time been known to have goons in their party. We are all also aware that the BJP has been anti-Dalit in several of its policies. In other states where they are in power they have worked against the people from Dalit communities. We have also seen multiple times that the Dalit community is nothing but vote banks for the BJP.”
She said, “Just because the people of Delhi voted the BJP out of power in the MCD, after 15 years of their atrocities against the people of Delhi, the BJP leaders have lost their mental balance. This attack by the BJP leader was not just one single attack against a safai karamchari, but it is a fight against all safai karamcharis, and particularly all those people who belong to the Valmiki community.”
She added, “As a responsible citizen of Delhi and a legislator from the city, I condemn such behaviour from Abhay Verma. Being an honest and responsible political party, AAP condemns such behaviour from a legislator and we will write a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner. We will also ask them to ensure the safety of all the safai karamcharis in Delhi. After this press conference, we will go to the Delhi Police and file an FIR against all the people involved in this incident. Members of AAP will also meet the safai karamcharis of Delhi and ensure that they are safe from the leaders of BJP. We will also hold a demonstration in front of BJP leader Abhay Verma’s house tomorrow.”
She concluded, “We will meet Delhi Police and ask them to provide security to the safai karamcharis in Delhi. If there are attacks against our daughters and safai karamcharis in Delhi, who is to be held responsible? The Delhi Police needs to ensure their safety. Shri Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, under whom Delhi Police works, needs to be held responsible for these attacks. But these people do not worry about the safety of a safai karamchari who leaves his home at 7 am and begins his work to keep the streets of Delhi clean. These people provide safety only to those businessmen and politicians who give them large donations.”

आम आदमी पार्टी के विधायक कुलदीप कुमार ने कहा कि एमसीडी में हार के बाद बौखलाहट में भाजपा विधायक अभय वर्मा ने सफाई कर्मचारी से मारपीट की है। इस मारपीट से साफ होता है कि भाजपा दलित विरोधी है। भाजपा एमसीडी में हार से बौखला चुकी है और हार का गुस्सा दबे कुचले समाज के सफाई कर्मचारियों पर निकाल रही है। वीडियो में साफ दिख रहा है कि अभय वर्मा, सफाई कर्मचारी को थप्पड़ पर थप्पड़ मार रहे हैं। मां-बहन को गंदी-गंदी गालियां दे रहे हैं। दिल्ली विधानसभा की डिप्टी स्पीकर राखी बिड़ला ने कहा कि यह हमला सिर्फ एक कर्मचारी पर नहीं बल्कि दिल्ली के सभी सफाई कर्मचारियों और पूरे वाल्मीकि समाज के ऊपर था। आम आदमी पार्टी इसकी कड़ी निंदा करती है और इसके खिलाफ कमिश्नर को एक चिट्ठी लिखकर समस्त सफाई कर्मचारियों की सुरक्षा की मांग करेगी। भाजपा द्वारा सफाई कर्मचारी के साथ मारपीट किए जाने के खिलाफ आम आदमी पार्टी आज एफआईआर और कल विरोध प्रदर्शन करेगी।
आम आदमी पार्टी के कोंडली विधानसभा से विधायक कुलदीप कुमार और मंगोलपुरी की विधायक राखी बिड़लान ने गुरुवार को पार्टी मुख्यालय में महत्वपूर्ण प्रेसवार्ता को संबोधित किया। उन्होंने कहा कि दिल्ली नगर निगम में पिछले 15 सालों से भाजपा की सरकार थी। इस दौरान भाजपा ने दिल्ली के लोगों, निगम कर्मचारियों पर जो अत्याचार किए, उन अत्याचारों से तंग आकर दिल्ली के लोगों ने भाजपा की सरकार को उखाड़ फेंका और एक कट्टर इमानदार सरकार की आम आदमी पार्टी को मौका दिया। लेकिन बहुत दुख की बात है कि भाजपा इस हार से पूरी तरीके से बौखला चुकी है। अब भाजपा अपनी हार का गुस्सा सफाई कर्मचारियों पर निकाल रही है। सुबह उठकर दिल्ली की गलियों को साफ करने वाले दबे कुचले समाज के लोगों से भाजपा मारपीट पर उतर आई है।
वीडियो दिखाते हुए कुलदीप कुमार ने कहा कि भाजपा से लक्ष्मी नगर के विधायक अभय वर्मा ने एक सफाई कर्मचारी को पीटा है। अपने गुंडों के साथ जाकर उसको पीटते हैं और ऐसगंदी गंदी गालियां देते हैं कि हम यह सब आपको सुना तक नहीं सकते हैं। वीडियो में साफ दिख रहा है कि वर्मा सफाई कर्मचारी को थप्पड़ पर थप्पड़ मार रहे हैं।
पूरा मामला बताते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि एक शौचालय के बाहर एक कमरा है। अभय वर्मा उसकी चाबी कर्मचारी से मांग रहे थे। लोगों ने बताया कि चाबी भाजपा के पूर्व पार्षद के पास थी। इसके बावजूद कर्मचारी को पीटा गया। यदि चाबी कर्मचारी के पास होगी भी तो क्या आप इस प्रकार से किसी को मारोगे। इन्हीं हरकतों के कारण लोगों ने भाजपा को निगम से बाहर कर दिया। आज एमसीडी के सफाई कर्मचारियों के अंदर इसके खिलाफ आक्रोश है। आम आदमी पार्टी इस पूरे मामले की कड़ी निंदा करती है। जिस प्रकार की गुंडागर्दी भाजपा के अभय वर्मा ने एक वाल्मीकि समाज के व्यक्ति पर की है, इसके खिलाफ हम कड़ा कदम उठाएंगे।
आम आदमी पार्टी से मंगोलपुरी की विधायक एवं दिल्ली विधानसभा में डिप्टी स्पीकर राखी बिड़ला ने कहा कि भाजपा के विधायक अभय वर्मा ने वाल्मीकि समाज के कर्मचारी की माता-बहन के लिए जिस प्रकार के अभद्र शब्दों का प्रयोग किया, वह सुनाने योग्य भी नहीं हैं। हमने हमेशा ही कहा है कि जो व्यक्ति जितना बड़ा गुंडा होता है भाजपा का शीर्ष नेतृत्व उसको उतने ही बड़े पद से नवाजती है। इसका प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण लक्ष्मीनगर के विधायक अभय वर्मा की यह करतूत है। भाजपा शुरू से ही वाल्मीकि समाज विरोधी और गरीब विरोधी पार्टी रही है। भाजपा वालों की शब्दावली से यह बार-बार स्पष्ट हुआ है कि यह लोग वाल्मीकि समाज को सिर्फ और सिर्फ अपना वोट बैंक समझते हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि यह हमला दिल्ली के सभी सफाई कर्मचारियों और दिल्ली के पूरे वाल्मीकि समाज के ऊपर था। आम आदमी पार्टी इसकी कड़ी निंदा करती है और इसके खिलाफ कमिश्नर को एक चिट्ठी लिखकर समस्त सफाई कर्मचारियों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित हो इसकी मांग करेगी। हम इस घटनाक्रम में शामिल सभी दोषियों के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज कराएंगे। पीड़ित कर्मचारी से वार्तालाप करके कल आम आदमी पार्टी अभय वर्मा के घर के बाहर प्रदर्शन करेगी। इसका कारण जो भी हो लेकिन किसी पर हाथ उठाना, उसकी माता और बहन को गंदी-गंदी गालियां देना, कहीं से भी शोभा नहीं देता है और ना ही संविधान इसकी आज्ञा देता है।
