AAP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Raghav Chadha on Saturday exposed the BJP’s conspiracy to topple the AAP Government in Delhi. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has been blackmailing and threatening AAP MLAs in Delhi to leave their party and join the BJP. He said that several MLAs have received calls from BJP leaders where they were blackmailed and told that if they do not leave AAP, false cases would be filed against them by the ED and CBI and they would be put into jail. He also hit out at the BJP for making a mockery of the democratic process and trying to bring about a No-Confidence Motion in Delhi Vidhan Sabha. He said that everyone is aware that there are 70 legislative seats in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha and for any one political party to form the government, it needs a minimum of 36 seats – one seat more than the halfway mark of 35 seats.

Shri Raghav Chadha said that because of the love and support of the residents of Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party has 62 MLAs in the Vidhan Sabha and the BJP has just 8 MLAs. He highlighted that AAP has nearly 90 percent of the seats in the Vidhan Sabha and the BJP has merely 10 percent of the seats, but yet it is so arrogant that it is attempting to bring a No-Confidence Motion against the ruling party.

He made a direct attack on the BJP and said that despite not having the support of the residents of Delhi, it is making attempts to threaten the MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party and get them to shift to the BJP. He pointed out that the BJP has previously used this tactic to form a government despite not having the majority given by the people in states such as Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Revealing some shocking details, he said that the BJP has been threatening the MLAs of AAP to break away and join the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that several MLAs of AAP have reported being threatened by the BJP and said that they were basically given two options. The first is to leave the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and join them. The second option is that if they do not leave AAP, then ED and CBI will be used by the Central Government to file false cases against them.

Shri Raghav Chadha added that the BJP is attempting to bring the No-Confidence Motion in the hope that some AAP MLAs may get scared of the threats of the BJP and therefore defect to their party and their eventual aim is to bring down the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party. This is the kind of politics that the BJP is indulging in in the National Capital of the country, he added.

He highlighted how the residents of Delhi have time and again rejected the BJP in the National Capital. He said that in the last 25 years that elections have been held in Delhi, the BJP has lost in each and every single election. The last three elections that AAP has contested in Delhi – in 2013, 2015 and 2020 – the BJP has gone on to lose those polls as well. He said that despite losing every time in the last 25 years, the BJP has still not learnt its lessons and is still trying to form a government in Delhi by deceit.

He pointed out that like it has done in other states of the country, the BJP is trying to break the MLAs of the ruling party by misusing central agencies like the ED and CBI and form the government. He said that the AAP MLAs have been given the example of Shri Manish Sisodia and threatened. “If a senior leader like Shri Manish Sisodia can be jailed, then you are just an ordinary MLA, just imagine what we can do to you. Our MLAs are being threatened and blackmailed to join the BJP, and if they refuse then they are told that they will be jailed for a prolonged period. This is what the leaders of the BJP have been doing in Delhi,” he said.

Shri Raghav Chadha warned the BJP and said that one point that the Narendra Modi-led party needs to understand is that unlike leaders of the Congress who get threatened by the BJP, the leaders of AAP are not made of the same mettle. He highlighted that even in the past – in 2013, 2015 and 2020 – the BJP tried to break the AAP MLAs but failed. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party had its birth from a revolution against corruption and therefore its leaders were unlike those in other political parties.

He concluded by saying that the BJP should learn to accept and respect the mandate of the people, who voted for the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and stop trying to use illegal and unconstitutional means to break the party and form its own government through the backdoor.
