Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal met with the newly elected Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Dr Shelly Oberoi, and Deputy Mayor, Shri Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, today. The meeting was held to congratulate the two leaders on their successful unanimous re-election and discuss the future of MCD. AAP MCD Incharge and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak was also present in the meeting.
Earlier in the day, both Dr Shelly Oberoi and Aaley Mohammad Iqbal were re-elected unopposed as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of MCD, respectively.
Congratulating them, CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Congratulations Shelly and Aaley on again becoming Mayor and Dy Mayor, this time unopposed. Best wishes to both. People have huge expectations from us. Work hard to meet their expectations.”
Expressing her gratitude, Dr Shelly Oberoi took to Twitter to thank CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal for reposing his faith upon her. “We will diligently walk on the path shown by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and transform the MCD, just as he transformed the Delhi Government,” the tweet further read.
Shri Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, the newly re-elected Deputy Mayor of MCD, expressed his gratitude towards CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and the people of Delhi in a tweet. He wrote, “I am grateful to the people of Delhi for their blessings, and I am thankful to CM Arvind Kejriwal for his support. We will work hard to meet the expectations of the people of Delhi.”
Notably, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has been a strong advocate for the development of Delhi, and under his leadership, the Delhi Government has undertaken several initiatives to transform the state under him. The newly elected leaders of MCD have promised to work diligently under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and bring about positive changes in the MCD.
