The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the Modi government for its proposed demolition of a MCD school in Delhi, located near the Delhi BJP headquarters. AAP Rajya Sabha member Shri Sanjay Singh and MLA Shri Durgesh Pathak addressed a press conference, denouncing the Modi government’s plan to bulldoze the government school of innocent children of Delhi and replace it with a luxurious park. The proposed demolition has sparked outrage among the people of Delhi, with AAP leading the charge against the government’s plans.

Shri Sanjay Singh criticised PM Narendra Modi government’s hypocrisy, stating that it is shameful that while the Prime Minister talks about “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,” his government wants to demolish a school that serves innocent children.

He pointed out, “The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is the biggest group of illiterates, has already closed 60,000 government schools across the country, and now they are preparing to bulldoze an MCD school with 14 rooms, near their party headquarters, in which 350 children study.”

The AAP leaders showed videos and photographs of the school building, ‘MCD Pry Co-ed School, Rouse Avenue, and then the BJP Headquarters near to it. Shri Sanjay Singh said, “When the Bharatiya Janata Party built their new office in Delhi, which should rather be called the Rashtriya Anpadh Bhawan, their first objective was to capture the neighbouring government school. While you may have heard of bulldozers being used against mafia and goons, it is shocking that the Modi government is planning to demolish the school where 350 innocent children are receiving their education. The BJP has made extensive efforts to bulldoze the school, and all orders and papers related to the same are in place.”

He explained that the story of the burial of this government school was written on the day the BJP HQ was inaugurated near it. “The Central Public Works Department of the Government of India has ordered the demolition of the school, and there is a plan to build a luxurious park for BJP’s illiterates here,” he added.

Shri Durgesh Pathak stated that the MCD school is located right next to the Bharatiya Janata Party office, and it appears that efforts were being made to capture the adjacent land and use the school premises for the party’s office work. He compared this to the behaviour of kings and emperors who covet land to make their system more splendid. He alleged that BJP leaders are trying to pressurise MCD school authorities to use their premises for matters related to their party. The AAP leaders opposed this move and promised to protect the government school. Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “With the support of the people of Delhi and as long as the Shri Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party is in power in Delhi, we vow that we will not allow a single government school to be ruined and will ensure that children’s education is never compromised.”

Shri Sanjay Singh also called out the Shri Narendra Modi government’s lack of faith in education, highlighting their focus on photo opportunities instead of actual education initiatives. “The Prime Minister travelled to his home state, Gujarat and had to take photos in a fake school, because BJP could not make a single world-class government school in Gujarat in 27 years,” he said. Shri Sanjay Singh addressed PM Shri Narendra Modi, saying, “It is shameful that while you were celebrating the inauguration of your office, you were also preparing to demolish a school where innocent children study. This act is atrocious, and it shows the Bharatiya Janata Party’s attempt to destroy the education and schools of children.”

Shri Durgesh Pathak explained that the BJP claims that it wanted to redevelop the entire DDU Marg. He alleged that they wanted to occupy the adjacent land of BJP and to get this school vacated by continuously putting pressure on MCD officials and using bulldozers on it, to use this poor school for the work of BJP’s office.

Shri Sanjay Singh voiced his apprehension regarding the redevelopment plans of DDU Marg and questioned the government’s priorities in the matter. He said that the government should demolish all political party offices, including two offices of the BJP, and even of AAP and Congress before any schools are demolished. He emphasised that using bulldozers on a children’s government school was a serious issue and accused the BJP-ruled central government of prioritising its own interests over the welfare of the children.

Shri Sanjay Singh referred to a letter recently written by former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia, which he called “very poignant, serious and sensitive.” The letter expresses concerns about the consequences of having an illiterate person as the Prime Minister of the country.

Shri Sanjay Singh highlighted the issue of government schools being closed by the Bharatiya Janata Party, with 60,000 schools being shut down across the country, including 26,000 schools in Uttar Pradesh alone, and thousands of schools in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Shri Sanjay Singh alleged that BJP leaders and ministers own private schools, which they use to run their businesses while neglecting and shutting down government schools. Shri Sanjay Singh claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s top priority, after building their national office, was to demolish a children’s school. “Shri Manish Sisodia expressed concerns about the future of the children if the Prime Minister and government continue to neglect education,” he said. In Shri Sanjay Singh’s opinion, this is a matter of concern for everyone, as the country’s future depends on the direction it takes. The closure of government schools, coupled with an illiterate Prime Minister, may have far-reaching consequences, and he believes it is necessary to address these issues urgently.

AAP leader Shri Sanjay Singh accused CPWD, MCD, and the Narendra Modi government of conniving to use bulldozers on the school. He also mentioned that Shri Durgesh Pathak, a nominated member of MCD as well as the mayor who is from the Aam Aadmi Party, are specially working towards stopping this plan by the BJP. Shri Sanjay Singh stated that his party strongly opposes this move, and the school should not be demolished to make space for BJP’s illiterate park.

Furthermore, Shri Sanjay Singh alleged that all buildings across the country being constructed under the name of BJP offices are “Adani Bhavans” and are being funded by Adani. In response to a question from the media, he emphasised that different strategies are required for different situations. He explained that there is a distinct strategy for how to confront the government inside the Parliament. “The reason why 19 political parties came together on a single platform was due to the issue of “Modi-Adani Bhai Bhai” and how they had “sold the country and ate the cream of country’s resources,” he said. He accused Narendra Modi of corruption amounting to lakhs of crores to maintain his political power and claimed that he had amassed economic power through Adani scams. Despite calls for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate these allegations, the government refused to form one. Shri Sanjay Singh argued that the Modi government did not allow the session of the Parliament to continue, “sending a message to the country that even if there is a scam of lakhs of crores, and evidence of black money being invested in Adani’s company, and even if India may be ruined, but Adani should not be ruined.”

He stated that the Prime Minister of India was serving Adani rather than the country. The 19 political parties that gathered were solely focused on exposing the Adani scam and this should not be viewed from any election perspective.
