Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor & Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann held a historic roadshow in support of AAP’s Jalandhar candidate Shri Sushil Rinku ahead of the upcoming by-polls, on Sunday. During the roadshow, Shri Arvind Kejriwal addressed the public and spoke about the current political scenario in Punjab. He criticised the Congress party, saying that they have become so arrogant that they are not even asking for votes. He urged the people of Jalandhar to elect AAP to power in the upcoming by-polls. I managed to come here from Delhi, but Rahul Gandhi or any other Congress leader couldn’t find time to come, he said, taking a jibe at the Congress party. He further added that every vote of the people of Jalandhar is very valuable, and they will give it to whoever comes to ask for it. He also promised that 2.50 lakh youth will get employment in the industries being set up in Punjab after the victory of AAP.

The roadshow was attended by a massive crowd of enthusiastic supporters of AAP, who cheered for the two CMs as they made their way through the streets of Jalandhar. With the by-polls just around the corner, AAP is leaving no stone unturned to ensure its victory in Jalandhar. The historic roadshow has further boosted the morale of the party’s supporters, and they are now eagerly waiting to cast their vote in favour of AAP. The first rally was held at Lohian Khas (Shahkot) at 4:30 pm. This was followed by another rally at Goraya (Phillaur) at 6 pm. The final rally was held at Adampur at 7:30 pm.

Addressing the rally at Lohian Khas, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said a year ago from now, the people of the state voted heavily in the favour of AAP and had made Sardar Bhagwant Mann the CM of Punjab. He added that a lot of people from Punjab travel to Delhi and when we meet them they all seem to be excited about the AAP Government in Punjab and say that a lot of developmental work has happened in the state within the last one year.

He said that when the state government had decided to give people free electricity, several questions were asked regarding how this would financially be managed. He said that earlier the politicians used to fill their personal coffers with the money that belonged to the people. But since AAP is an honest political party, all the money that the state earns is now spent in welfare schemes for the residents of the state. “Sardar Bhagwant Mann is an honest CM. He does not loot the money that belongs to the people and fill his own coffers, but he uses that money to provide free electricity to the people.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that in the last one year, the state of Punjab has been transformed. Mohalla Clinics have been built, farmers are getting money for their crops that have been damaged, the children of Punjab are getting government jobs. In the last one year, 29,000 government jobs have been given to the youth of the state,” he said.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that the Punjab CM Sardar Bhagwant Mann recently travelled across the nation and brought investment worth Rs 40,000 crore to the state. He travelled to Chennai, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai and met the industrialist there and asked them to invest in the state. “Investment worth Rs 40,000 crore has already come to the state and factories are beginning to be built. In the next one year, 2.5 lakh youth in the state will be given a job. The BJP has not provided jobs to these many youth in several years,” he said.

Speaking about the work ethics of the Punjab CM, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that everytime he calls Sardar Bhagwant Mann he is working. “I call him at midnight or at 1 am and he will be working. That’s the kind of person he is,” he said.

Shri Arvind Kejriwal urged the residents of the area to come out on May 10 and vote for the AAP candidate Shri Sushil Rinku. He pointed out that for the last 60 years, the residents here have been voting for the Congress candidate and this time they have become so arrogant that the candidate has not even come to ask for the vote of the people. “I have come from Delhi to ask for your vote. Has Rahul Gandhi come here to ask for the votes of residents? No other senior Congress leader has come her to ask for your vote. When they do not come to ask for your vote, then why should you vote for them. You vote is important, and you should give it to a person who comes to ask for it,” he said.

Saying that Sardar Bhagwant Mann understands the value of the vote, Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “Both of us have been going to villages in the constituency asking for your votes because we understand the value of it. Please vote for the AAP candidate Shri Sushil Rinku this time and if we do not work in the next 11 months, then do not vote for us ever again,” he said.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann also called upon the esteemed residents of Jalandhar to exercise their democratic rights and cast their valuable votes in support of AAP candidate Shri Sushil Rinku in the upcoming by-election for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, scheduled to be held on May 10. The Chief Minister emphasised that this crucial vote will pave the way for unprecedented progress, development, and a brighter future for Jalandhar. He said, “AAP’s resounding victory in Jalandhar will mark the beginning of a transformative era where the responsibility will shift from the people and firmly rest upon the party to deliver on their promises.”

He highlighted how the AAP government has worked tirelessly over the past year with an unwavering dedication to bringing about positive changes in Punjab. He noted that the AAP government in Punjab has provided ample government job opportunities for the youth, and the establishment of new factories also promises the creation of numerous employment prospects. He added, “Inspired by the successful model in Delhi, we have also undertaken the task of revamping government schools to ensure that all children receive high-quality education. Furthermore, our commitment to the welfare of the people is evident through our efforts to alleviate the burden of electricity bills, aiming to bring them down to zero for the citizens of Punjab.”

Punjab CM Sardar Bhagwant Mann sought the wholehearted support of the people of Jalandhar for a duration of just 11 months. “During this period, we promise to work diligently and fulfil our commitments to the people. We understand that the faith and trust placed in us are paramount, and we assure you that if we fail to deliver on our promises, we will humbly request you not to vote for us in the future. Together, let us build a prosperous Punjab where progress and development are the hallmarks of our shared future,” he said.
