The Aam Aadmi Party will contest the municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh with the slogan ‘House tax half, water tax maaf. AAP will contest elections with full strength in 17 municipal corporations and 763 municipalities of UP. To speed up the election preparations, the party has appointed officers in-charge for the 763 municipalities. Along with this, the process of the selection of candidates at the ward as well as at the Mayor and Chairman levels has also started. Till now the names of 270 candidates for wards and the chairman have been almost decided. Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh gave this information during a press conference at the party headquarters on Friday.

Addressing the press, Shri Sanjay Singh said that after a long dispute over reservations in the municipalities of Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme Court has given permission to hold elections there. Now the process of reservation for civic body elections in Uttar Pradesh has been completed. Reservation of seats has also been announced. The date for seeking objections from the people has also been completed. Now it is almost certain that soon the announcement of municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh will be made. Within Uttar Pradesh, the Aam Aadmi Party will strongly contest elections in 763 municipalities. There are 17 Municipal Corporations in Uttar Pradesh, AAP will contest elections strongly in these Municipal Corporations also. The Aam Aadmi Party has declared its officers in-charge for 763 municipalities.

Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Shri Sanjay Singh also said that the process of selection for posts at the level of ward, Mayor and Chairman in the municipal elections has also been started. So far, about 270 names have been proposed by the AAP unit of Uttar Pradesh at the ward level and for the election of the Chairman. He said that now whenever the municipal elections are announced in Uttar Pradesh, the Aam Aadmi Party will contest the elections with full force with the slogan “House tax half – Water tax maaf”.
