In the second week of 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute, Har Ravivar Dengue Par Vaar campaign, doctors hail the efforts of CM Arvind Kejriwal in preventing dengue

CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal kickstarted the campaign on Sept 6 by inspecting his residence at 10 AM for 10 minutes for stagnant clean water inside his residence

Delhi government launches Dengue helpline – 01123300012 and WhatsApp helpline – 8595920530. Anybody requiring any information on Dengue prevention and cure can reach out to the Delhi Government via this helpline

Preventing water stagnation, regularly draining out and replacing water in vases and coolers, ensuring cleanliness, and adding oil or petrol to stagnant water counted as some of the most effective measures to prevent Dengue

New Delhi:

Doctors of Delhi government hospitals have hailed the efforts of the government as well as CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal in the second week of the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute Anti-Dengue campaign. The 10 weeks long anti-dengue mass awareness campaign on preventing dengue urges people to inspect their houses for signs of stagnant clean water inside their homes or their surroundings, which can lead to the breeding of mosquitoes that spread dengue. The doctors, who continue to remain the backbone in this fight against Dengue, have come out in support of the anti-dengue campaign and are assuring the citizens that Delhi will cope up with Dengue together. The Delhi government has been providing free of cost treatment and testing for Dengue in all Delhi government hospitals and has also launched a telephonic and WhatsApp helpline to assist the general public for Dengue.

CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal launched the campaign on September 6 by inspecting his residence for stagnant water to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. Taking to social media, CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted, “The people of Delhi had once again started a war against dengue. On the first Sunday of this 10-week massive campaign, I have also changed the clean water accumulated in my house and eliminated the possibility of mosquito-borne diseases. For the next 10 weeks, every Sunday at 10 AM, we need to check our homes for just 10 minutes. Along with saving our families from Dengue, we have to save Delhi from Dengue. I am sure the people of Delhi will defeat dengue this time as well.”

The 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute anti-Dengue campaign was launched in September 2019. As a result, there were only 2036 cases in Delhi and two deaths due to Dengue, as compared to 2015, when the Dengue cases were 15867 and there were 60 deaths. Many celebrities, Delhi cabinet ministers, MLAs, and officials extended their support to the campaign by inspecting their houses for stagnant water every Sunday for 10 minutes at 10 AM.

Apart from providing a list of all precautions for Dengue, the Delhi government is advising all the citizens to get themselves tested if they discover symptoms such as fever, joint pains, headaches, and rashes. The dengue testing and treatment facilities are available free of cost in Delhi government hospitals and testing facilities. Some preventive measures for dengue include checking for and draining stagnant water from home, surroundings, and vases, changing the water stored in coolers, or adding a small layer of oil or petrol in the accumulated water, and always covering the water tanks with a lid.

A special helpline has also been launched by the Delhi government for the general public if they require assistance with Dengue. They can call on 011-22300012 and WhatsApp on 8595920530. Hailing the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign of the Delhi government, the doctors have been assuring the people that they will provide the best possible care to the patients of Dengue and have shared some important measures to be taken to prevent Dengue.

The government has also announced that dengue testing and treatment facilities are available free of cost in Delhi govt hospitals, which is the most commendable approach to reach people who cannot afford high-cost treatments: Dr. Chhavi Gupta, RGSSH

The Delhi government’s 10-week anti-dengue campaign seeks to build greater awareness on the prevention of Dengue in Delhi. Even last year the same campaign was launched in September, which led to only 2,036 reported cases and two deaths due to dengue, as compared to 2015 when the dengue cases were 15,867 and there were 60 deaths. It is a great initiative and dynamic thoughtfulness of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal to combat the severity of deadly dengue illness which was uncontrollable in the past few years and the main cause of morbidity and mortality in Delhi during the post-monsoon season. The government has also announced that dengue testing and treatment facilities are available free of cost in the government hospitals of Delhi, which I think is the most commendable approach to reach more and more people who cannot afford high-cost treatments.

We should come together to fight Dengue, just like we are fighting COVID together: Dr. Ritu, LNJP Hospital

The 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi is commendable. It was also launched last year and the results are in front of us, the cases were drastically reduced from the previous years. All the departments, doctors, and officials are caught up in preventing and treating the COVID pandemic. It ultimately becomes the duty of every citizen to check their homes for water stagnation and maintain cleanliness. If they make it a habit to spend just a few minutes once a week to do that, we will be able to control Dengue to a huge extent. It just need us to come together to fight Dengue, just like we are fighting COVID together. We should cover our children to protect them, and ourselves especially when we are going out to prevent mosquito bites. Just like wearing masks has become a habit, taking preventive measures like wearing clothes with full sleeves and inspecting our houses for 10 minutes every week to prevent Dengue should be adopted as a habit too. Adding kerosene oil or petrol to stagnant water is another effective way to prevent mosquito breeding.

The 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign of the Delhi government is a timely measure against dengue and other vector-borne diseases: Dr. Ashish Goel, Medical Superintendent, Burari Hospital

Delhi is already going through a tough phase dealing with the COVID pandemic, and if another disease gets added to it, it is going to be very difficult to manage for the general public as well as for the hospitals and administration. The 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign of the Delhi government is a timely measure against dengue and other vector-borne diseases. The disease should be controlled before it outspread, as it will then not majorly affect the health and livelihoods of the people. The best part about the campaign is that the CM is himself participating in it, and if we follow the same routine, we will certainly be able to prevent its outbreak. This campaign is to dismantle the first level from where the disease is born, which is to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. To prevent dengue, people should remain indoors and use nets if they are sleeping outdoors, which is a very cost-effective measure to prevent dengue bites.
