Reply to Law Minister on Judicial Appointments Commission

Please find enclosed the three-page response of the Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to the letter of the union law minister Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, seeking the party's views on setting the Judicial Appointments Commission.

The AAP has highlighted :
  • India needs a full time broadbased Constitutional body for appointment of judges to High Courts and Supreme Court in a completely transparent manner.
  • The Judicial Appointments Commission of the UK provides a model to be followed.
  • The Judicial Commission bill introduced in the Rajya Sabha by the UPA government last year is a bad example to follow.
  • The bill drafted by the Committee on Judicial Accountability (a voluntary body of senior Lawyers and retired judges) for setting-up a full time and independent Judicial Appointments commission is the way forward.

Letter to Sonia Gandhi

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to the Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi. Kejriwal has drawn Mrs Gandhi's attention to the plight of four minor dalit rape victims of Bhagana village (Hisar district), Haryana.

These victims have been sitting on dharna along with their families at Jantar Mantar since April 16. These victims have not only undergone the worst inhuman trauma, but their families and relatives have been chased away from their village and they have no shelter now.

The state Congress government has been shielding the accused and the police has done nothing to probe the cases. Kejriwal has asked Mrs Gandhi to direct her party's state govenrment to refer the case to the CBI and ensure the rehabilitation of victims and their families.

Letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh

This is the letter that Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Home Minister, Sh. Rajnath Singh asking him to direct the LG of Delhi to desolve the Delhi assembly and pave way for fresh elections. The hearing of the Supreme Court case is coming up on 4th July. AAP expects that BJP, if its indeed serious about conducting fresh elections in Delhi, should make their stand explicit there as well.

This will put an end to all "horse-trading" attempts being made by different parties, to try and form a Govt. in Delhi, by hook or crook.  Read More

Letter to PM on gas pricing

According to reports coming out in newspapers, your government is preparing to shortly increase the prices of natural gas. We had apprehended earlier only that after the elections the prices of natural gas will be doubled. We sincerely request you not to hike gas prices which will only benefit Mr. Mukesh Ambani and the people will be further burdened by rising prices.

Through this letter I am bringing some facts to your notice, which state that actually the prices of natural gas in India need to be reduced rather than increasing them.

Today you purchase a unit of gas from Reliance for $ 4.205. The RIL spends less than a dollar on production of one unit of gas. That means the RIL is reaping a profit of more than 325 per cent. The facts below prove that the RIL actually spends less than a dollar on excavation of a unit of gas: Read More

You can create history in Varanasi

This is the letter Arvind has written to volunteers, supporters and donors of AAP. Please read & share. Together, we can make this happen.

Dear Friend,

I decided to contest against Narendra Modi in Varanasi because it is critical to India's future that we challenge his false propaganda about the Gujarat development model and his repressive anti-people policies. Unfortunately, the Congress party is hand in glove with the BJP and puts up token resistance only. Someone needs to raise the important questions that ultimately affect the Aam Aadmi. For eg, why is BJP recommending a formula that will result in the highest price of gas for Reliance? Why is BJP not probing Robert Vadra's land deals in Rajasthan when they themselves agree that a major scam occurred there? Read More
